GIS PROFESIONAL
I am a GIS professional passionate about using spatial analysis and data visualization to support environmental and social impact work. With roots in Colombia and based in Washington State, I bring a global perspective to understanding place, people, and patterns.
I have hands-on experience working with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and StoryMaps, and a strong interest in translating complex datasets into clear, decision-ready insights. My work focuses on spatial analysis, cartographic design, and applied GIS solutions for real-world challenges.
I am continuously expanding my technical skills, including data visualization and Python-supported workflows, while maintaining a strong foundation in GIS best practices.

My Story
After building a foundation in GIS through my academic training and early professional roles, I made the intentional decision to take a career pause to focus on my family as a stay-at-home mom. It was a choice I feel deeply at peace with.
Returning to the workforce, particularly in the tech and GIS space, has been both motivating and challenging. Re-entering a fast-moving field requires persistence, humility, and continuous learning, and I’ve embraced all three.
Today, I am actively rebuilding momentum in my GIS career with clarity, confidence, and renewed purpose. I believe there is space in this field for growth at every stage, and I am excited to contribute my skills, perspective, and experience to meaningful projects.
Mapping Portfolio
Selected GIS projects demonstrating spatial analysis and cartographic design

This map visualizes reported cases of violence against women in Colombia by department using official statistical data. Proportional symbols highlight regional disparities and support spatial comparison, with a cartographic approach that prioritizes clarity and sensitivity when communicating gender-based violence data.

Impact of Armed Conflict on Internal Migration in Colombia (2008–2024)
This project analyzes patterns of internal displacement in Colombia over a sixteen-year period, aggregating displacement events by region to examine the spatial relationship between armed conflict and forced migration. The map reveals long-term geographic disparities and supports regional-level analysis.

Mount Rainier Elevation Map
This map visualizes the elevation of Mount Rainier in Washington State using terrain contours and a continuous color gradient, where higher elevations are represented by warmer tones and lower elevations by cooler tones. The project emphasizes raster analysis and terrain visualization using elevation data sourced from NASA.

Foundations in GIS — Territorial Planning Map (2014)
Created in 2014 as part of an academic territorial planning project, this map explores homogeneous land-use zones within a regional planning context. Included to illustrate the foundation of my GIS practice and the progression of my cartographic and spatial analysis skills over time.
